(More customer reviews)I bought the Pro Pad in large size to extend my riding time between rest stops. I bought the Pro Pad as it is made in the US, and the build quality is really excellent. It does work quite well, and the non-slip mat on the reverse side does a good job of keeping the pad in position on the motorcycle seat.
It has a fixed elastic strap towards the front of the pad that is supposed to slip under the bike seat. In addition, it has two elastic adjustable straps towards the rear that you can use to attach to the bike frame, etc. with the supplied non-marring hooks.
I looked at two other brands of gel pads before buying the Pro Pad. What made me choose the Pro Pad was the build quality, the nicely made cover with the "Pro Pad" logo on it, and the made in the US aspect.
After several rides on both my bikes (switching the pad from one bike to another takes seconds) I can honestly say that it was a good investment. It easily doubled my mileage, and my tailbone, etc. are not sore at all.
This will not let you ride all day on a poor seat, but it will extend the rest intervals considerably.
This is a great choice instead of springing for an expensive OEM gel seat upgrade, and you can switch it from bike to bike with no trouble at all.
The Pro Pad is about 3/4" thick, so it will increase your ride height a little bit. There are pads out there that have really thick gel, but if you compare the weight of the Pro Pad with the Chinese imports that have thicker gel, the Pro Pad is substantially heavier. I suspect that the Pro Pad uses a higher quality gel.
